About our Snapchat downloader
Snapchat is built around ephemeral, disappearing content, but a lot of what's on the app today — Spotlight videos, public Stories from creators and brands — is intentionally public and meant to be watched broadly. DownloadVideo's Snapchat downloader works on that public content.
Paste the link to a public Spotlight video or a public Story, and save it as an MP4. We deliberately don't support private, one-to-one Snaps — that content is private by design, and Snapchat's own screenshot-notification system exists specifically to protect that.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything people ask before they download.
Can I download a private Snap someone sent me directly?
No. Private Snaps are deliberately ephemeral — Snapchat is built around content that disappears, and the app notifies the sender if a recipient screenshots or screen-records their Snap. We don't provide any way to bypass that, and there's no legitimate download path for private, one-to-one Snaps.
What is Spotlight?
Spotlight is Snapchat's public, algorithmically-surfaced short-video feed — similar in concept to TikTok's For You page or Reels — where creators submit videos for broader public discovery, separate from private Snaps or friend-only Stories.
Can I download a friend's public Story?
If their Story or account is set to public and you have a shareable link to it, yes. Stories from private/friends-only accounts aren't accessible.
Does saving a public Spotlight video notify the original creator?
No — Snapchat's screenshot notification applies to private Snaps sent directly between users, not to publicly posted Spotlight content, which is meant to be viewed (and is often downloaded/shared) broadly.
Is downloading Snapchat videos legal?
Saving publicly posted content for personal, non-commercial use is generally accepted. Snapchat's core design around ephemeral, private content means the responsible approach is to only ever save what was posted publicly, and to credit the creator if you re-share it elsewhere.
