DownloadVideo is a free tool that helps people save the videos they love — without forcing them to install another app, share their data, or pay a subscription.
Our story
DownloadVideo started because we kept getting the same question from family and friends in India: "Bhai, Instagram ki Reel kaise download karein?". The honest answer was always disappointing — install another sketchy app, hand over your phone permissions, sit through pop-ups, or pay a "premium" tier just to remove a watermark.
We thought there was a better way. So we built one. A single, fast, mobile-friendly site that handles every major platform — global names like Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and India-exclusive apps like Josh, Moj, ShareChat, Chingari, and Likee — without asking you to sign up, install anything, or pay.
What we believe
- Free tools should stay free. No paywalls, no "premium" upsells.
- Privacy is the default. We don't ask for accounts and we don't store your videos.
- Creators come first. Use our tool to save content for personal use. If you re-share, credit the creator.
- Speed matters. Even on a slow 4G connection in a Tier-3 town, the experience should feel instant.
How we make it work
DownloadVideo runs entirely on Cloudflare's global edge network. Your link is processed at the edge node closest to you (in India, that means Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, or Bengaluru). We never store the video on our side — it's fetched from the source platform and streamed straight back to your device.
The site is built as a static Astro project, which is why pages load almost instantly. We don't ship megabytes of JavaScript. We don't load 30 trackers. We just give you a paste box and a Download button.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data — we don't collect anything that could identify you.
- We don't host the videos. We're a thin layer between you and the original platform.
- We don't bypass account privacy. Private posts stay private.
- We don't run pop-up or pop-under ads. (If we ever do show an ad, it'll be a single, clean banner — never an interstitial.)
